Augustus Omnipotens is a sweeping musical chronicle of Octavian’s rise to power — from avenger of Julius Caesar to Augustus, the first Emperor of Rome. Each track paints a vivid scene in the saga of conquest, betrayal, and ascension: from brutal warfare and political intrigue to the dawn of the Pax Romana.
The band fuses historical detail with mythic atmosphere, portraying Augustus not just as a ruler, but as a symbol of transformation — a mortal man ascending into legend. Themes of destiny, blood, and the price of immortality pulse through every note.
Sound of the Empire
Musically, the album harnesses the might of blackened death metal to convey the visceral force of Rome’s imperial age. Ferocious guitar riffs echo the chaos of battle, thunderous drums mirror the march of legions, and guttural vocals summon the gods of war. The result is a grand, cinematic experience where history becomes sound and fury.
“We wanted Augustus Omnipotens to feel like standing inside a triumphal procession — glorious, terrifying, and eternal,” said founding member Fabio Battistella in an interview with MetalItalia.
About DEOS
Formed in 2014 by Fabio Battistella, Jack “Janus” Graved, and Loïc Depauwe, DEOS have long stood out for blending extreme metal aggression with historical and mythological storytelling. Their previous releases, Ghosts of the Empire (2015), In Nomine Romae (2017), and Furor Belli (2022), established them as torchbearers of “Roman metal” — a genre of their own invention that fuses epic narrative with musical brutality.
Mastered once again by J.-F. Dagenais (Kataklysm, Ex Deo), Augustus Omnipotens was recorded between autumn 2024 and spring 2025, reflecting both the band’s historical passion and their modern edge. DEOS continue to tour across Europe, conquering new audiences from Paris to London’s legendary Cart & Horses.
