Greek Death-Thrash Veterans CREMATE Sign with Wormholedeath, Announce New EP Ready To Fight
Legacy and Rebirth
Formed in 1991 in Alimos, Athens, by high school friends Christos (guitar/vocals) and Leonidas (drums), CREMATE quickly carved a name in the underground with their 1993 demo End of Time—a cult classic that received critical acclaim from fanzines and metal radio worldwide. Their raw mix of death and thrash metal drew comparisons to early Kreator, Sodom, and Sepultura, blending ferocity with authenticity.
After years of lineup changes and relentless live performances, including features in Metal Hammer Greece, the band released their 7” EP Enchanting Black Recess in 1995 via Dark Side Records before disbanding. But CREMATE’s story was far from over.
The New Era – *Ready To Fight*
In 2021, founder Christos reignited CREMATE with drummer George and longtime collaborator Akis Pastras (Dexter Ward, Damon Systema, Nightfall). Revisiting their classic demo material, the trio reimagined it through a modern lens—adding haunting synths, samples, and new arrangements that amplify their signature 90s aggression.
The result is Ready To Fight, a four-track EP that fuses vintage death/thrash brutality with contemporary production. Highlights include reworked versions of “Another Pain Born” (reborn as “Human”), “Die as You Lived” featuring violin by Lusty Apricot, and a new title track boasting a blistering guest solo from Marios Iliopoulos (Nightrage).
