Greek heavy/power metal band Sirius has released a lyric video for their track “Desdichado,” offering a glimpse into their upcoming album, A Quest for Life, scheduled for release on July 26, 2024, via WormHoleDeath Records.
Literary Inspiration Behind ‘Desdichado’
“Desdichado” draws inspiration from Sir Walter Scott’s novel Ivanhoe, focusing on the character Sir Wilfred of Ivanhoe, who faces familial estrangement due to his loyalty to King Richard the Lionheart. The song initiates a narrative arc following “The Pilgrim” through themes of betrayal, salvation, and restoration.
Band Background and Evolution
Formed in Athens in 2007 by guitarist and vocalist Dimitris Napas, Sirius debuted with the EP Wings of Fire in 2017, celebrated with a sold-out performance at Remedy Live Club. In 2019, they released an acoustic rendition of “The Last Angel” and a studio performance video, followed by an opening act for Luke Appleton of Iced Earth. Their festival appearances include Under The Quarry.
Upcoming Album: ‘A Quest for Life’
The forthcoming album, A Quest for Life, features notable collaborations with Tim “Ripper” Owens and Derek Sherinian. The artwork, crafted by Jon Toussas and Graphic no Jutsu, complements the album’s themes. Recording took place at Made in Hell studio, with production by David Prudent.
