New Album: Portentum
Imperial Domain, one of Uppsala’s most enduring melodic death metal forces, have signed with Wormholedeath for the release of their new album Portentum, due out 14 November 2025. The record is a meditation on history’s endless cycles of destruction and rebirth, weaving together ancient omens, modern turmoil, and dystopian futures.
“Our upcoming album Portentum explores dark historical and contemporary themes—from ancient omens to modern dystopias. It’s a record born from reflection, unrest, and unrelenting creative fire,” the band shared in their statement.
About the Single: “History Repeating”
The lead single, “History Repeating”, sets the tone with razor-sharp riffs and anthemic aggression. The video balances raw performance with cinematic atmosphere, a testament to the band’s ability to merge ferocity with haunting melody. As Metal Devastation Radio commented, the track “captures the brutality of history’s cycles in a way only Imperial Domain could deliver.”
A Legacy of Swedish Death Metal
Formed in the mid-90s, Imperial Domain established themselves with early demos like The Final Chapter (1995) and their Pulverised Records debut In the Ashes of the Fallen (1998). The follow-up The Ordeal (2003) earned critical acclaim before tragedy struck with the passing of vocalist Tobias Heideman in 2014. Their comeback album The Deluge (2016) reaffirmed their place among Sweden’s melodic death elite.
Now, with Portentum, the band embraces their past while carving a new, uncompromising future. Tracks like “New World Order” promise to expand the album’s thematic and sonic range, pushing Imperial Domain further into ambitious territory.
