The Birth of Dreadmask
Dreadmask emerged in early 2023 in Eindhoven, fueled by a shared passion for meaningful heavy music. Featuring members from Greece, Hungary, and The Netherlands, the band was formed by John Kourentas, Elger van Delft, and Antonis Mougiakakos after a hiatus from their previous projects. The lineup solidified with the addition of Zoltán Herczog in mid-2023.
The name “Dreadmask” captures the essence of their music—fear and concealment. “Dread” symbolizes the pervasive grip of anxiety, while “mask” reflects the shields we raise to hide our vulnerabilities. Their music delves into confronting the Prime Dread, those deep-seated fears that define our struggles against societal norms and expectations.
