Relicon Return with New EP Ephemeral Triumphs – Due August 29
Finnish alt-metal outfit Relicon are set to make a powerful comeback with their EP Ephemeral Triumphs, arriving August 29, 2025 via Wormholedeath. The release builds on their previous efforts under the label, delivering a potent mix of raw emotion, experimental textures, and unrelenting heaviness.
27 Years in the Making
In the words of the band, “It’s been a very long road for this project, over 27 years. While there was a hiatus between 2012–2017 for personal reasons, the project has always continued to compose new music, evolve, and pursue new things. Even at this moment, the next recording is already taking shape.”
Reworked Tracks Meet New Material
The EP features three reimagined tracks originally written between 2005–2012, along with a brand-new piece titled “Emergence,” whose early demos date back to 2017. On Ephemeral Triumphs, Relicon push their sound further with moody atmospheres and guest sax by Tommi Palomäki, demonstrating their willingness to explore beyond alt-metal conventions.
Band Dynamics & Recording
Immediately following their 2024 EP Consequences of Disbelief, Relicon returned to the studio. Drummer Mikko Kuhno drives the rhythm section, while long-time bassist Tuukka Mauranen adds the low-end backbone. Antti-Pekka Meronen handled production and most instrumentation, once again anchoring the band’s creative vision.

A Legacy Reborn
